In the fourth round, Antoine Vermette's wrister was stopped by the left pad of Antti Niemi and Brouwer followed by burying a wrister into the right corner for the win.
Jake Dowell and Patrick Sharp each had a goal and an assist while Bryan Bickell and Patrick Kane also had a goal for the Blackhawks, who go into the Olympic break with a four-game winning streak. Niemi had 21 saves.
Kristian Huselius had a goal and an assist while Raffi Torres, Fedor Tyutin and Rick Nash each lit the lamp for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped their past two games. Mathieu Garon made 33 saves in the loss.
At the break, the Blackhawks have 87 points and find themselves second in the Western Conference, two points behind San Jose for the top spot overall. Columbus, however, is at the other end of the spectrum as the team is second to last in the Western Conference with 60 points.
The Blue Jackets opened the scoring 11:11 into the game when Vermette threw the puck from the left side to the right where Huselius one-timed it in.
A bit over two minutes later, Columbus took a 2-0 lead as good work along the boards resulted in Torres getting the puck and his second backhander got past Niemi.
Chicago, though, got a power-play goal with just 5.2 seconds left in the first stanza when Kane's wrister from the left circle banged off the right post and went in.
The late goal spurred Chicago as the team scored three straight times in the second to take the lead.
The first goal came just 3:07 in as a backhand pass from Dowell behind the left side of the net came out front where Bickell one-timed it home.
Dowell, who was called up earlier on Sunday, made it a 3-2 game at the 12:42 mark of the second as he picked up the puck at the left circle and his quick shot got past Garon.
Just 1:17 later, Chicago made it a 4-2 game as Jonathan Toews wrestled the puck away from R.J. Umberger along the right boards and worked the puck out front before dishing it to the slot where Sharp chipped it in.
Columbus, though, got a late power-play goal as Nash slammed home a rebound of an Umberger shot with 2:16 left in the middle stanza.
The Blue Jackets then tied the game 7:58 into the third on the power play when Tyutin's slap shot from the left point hit off of a Blackhawk and snuck past Niemi.

Turnovers are the single most frustrating, and at times the most gratifying, aspect of a college football lines, mostly because they are so unpredictable. They are part of the game and most of the time nothing can be done to control them. However, turnovers are contagious and they can carry over from game to game and season to season.
It’s important to know how to forecast these unforeseen events and how to use them to your advantage. You can find ways to give yourself an edge by looking at past histories of teams and coaches and how they have fared in turnover wars in the past. Instead of turnovers hurting you at the wrong times, find ways to use them to your advantage.
As you can see, college football handicapping is very labor intensive and isn’t just based on where teams are ranked in the AP and coaches polls. Experience, coaching and match-ups are all important since unlike the NFL, college teams turn over much more often with new personnel at most positions every single year. Keeping current on this information is vital.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
