Sharks double up Blues

02/04/2010 - St. Louis, MO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Devin Setoguchi's power-play goal late in the second period proved to be the game-winner, as San Jose continued its winning ways on the road with a 4-2 victory over St. Louis at Scottrade Center.

Ryane Clowe and Scott Nichol each had a goal and an assist, and Patrick Marleau netted his 38th score of the season just 21 seconds in to help the Sharks run their road winning streak to seven games.

Thomas Greiss was solid in a rare start, turning back 35-of-37 shots to get the win. San Jose has notched at least one point in 11 of its last 12 games (9-1-2) having rebounded from a 4-2 home loss to Detroit on Tuesday.

Patrik Berglund and Alexander Steen got the goals for the Blues, who came in flying high off a 3-2 road win over Central Division leader Chicago on Wednesday.

However, St. Louis hasn't won back-to-back games since putting together four straight from January 9-16. Ty Conklin recorded 27 saves in defeat.

Marleau took advantage of a Blues turnover to swat a strong shot from the slot past Conklin just 21 seconds in. Clowe also was the benefactor of a giveaway in the neutral zone, eventually scoring off the rebound of a Nichol shot at the left post for a 2-0 game at 7:53.

Berglund's power-play goal closing in on the midway point of the first halved the Sharks' lead.

Setoguchi's terrific individual effort gained San Jose a 3-1 lead and served as the lone goal of the second period. Collecting a dump-in behind the net, Setoguchi worked the puck out of the right corner and shielded off a defender to get in front for a backhander that snuck underneath a sprawled Conklin with 3:06 to go.

Steen made it a one-goal game once again, firing through traffic for his 13th of the season 8:39 into the third. Greiss, though, held his ground from there with 14 saves in the last 20 minutes, and Nichol's slapper inside the final five minutes provided a two-goal cushion.

Game Notes

San Jose is 18-6-2 as the visitor this season, while the Blues fell to a dismal 9-15-5 at home on the year...St. Louis was 1-for-4 on the power play...The Sharks converted once in three chances with the extra skater...Marleau's goal tied him with Washington's Alex Ovechkin for the league lead.
